Professor Frisby's Mostly Adequate Guide

Why do I like this? Don't let the title of this e-book fool you. This book is chock-full of functional programming awesomeness. Did I mention that it's all in Javascript? Oh yeah. I've been programming for a long time, and I took away a ton of information from this book. Definitely a must-read on any developer's book list.

Social Network Analysis

Why do I like this? Big data is a growing trend in computer science. Being able to find the links between people and groups, thoughts and behaviors, is a very important skill. It's useful in design and development of software and websites and ad campaigns. Pretty much anything you want to do in the world, you need to have analytics behind you if you want to succeed.

Decision Trees, Overfitting, and Occam's Razor

Why do I like this? Understanding machine learning is a hugely important skill to have. Being able to build tools that can take advantage of these theories is going to allow you to go further, go faster, and never look back.

Augmented Reality

Why do I like this? Augmented reality. This is going to be huge as more VR appliances come out. Being able to augment things around you in a browser with javascript? Absolutely priceless. This article describes how to use awe.js to augment reality for your users. Definitely an interesting article and applicaiton.
